Pohádky po babičce
“Grandma is gone. Her stories remain.”
Tom (4), Suzanne (8), and Derek (10) set off for a weekend at their grandparents' house. But nothing is as usual: Grandpa seems distant, lost in thought; Tom wonders where Grandma has gone—she who always told him incredible stories; Derek is busy renovating the old apple tree hut in the garden. Following in her grandmother's footsteps, Suzanne improvises as a storyteller, filling the house with imaginary and wonderful tales to illuminate their days and fill the void of her absence. The film is an adaptation of three tales written by renowned Czech author Arnošt Goldflam
"Did your grandmother ever tell you stories? What if she suddenly vanished—how much would you miss her voice, her scent, the magical tales she wove? Tales from the Magic Garden chases precisely this feeling. Three siblings, faced with their grandmother's mysterious absence, try to cope with loss through an apple tree hut, a distracted grandfather, and stories blooming from Suzanne's imagination. Director David Súkup approaches the children's world with such reverence that every glance, every silence, every smile on screen feels achingly real. And those stories? The three tales penned by Arnošt Goldflam dance on a thin thread between reality and fantasy. They leave one question lingering: Can filling Grandmother's absence with stories ever bring her back? Or are stories the only way we keep our lost ones alive in our hearts?"
